- Reduce Costs and Improve Operational Efficiency
- Ensure Competitiveness, Growth, and Sustainability Over Time
The Business Sustainability Challenge (BSC), helps CT businesses become more competitive, profitable, and resilient by thinking strategically about the energy, waste stream, workforce, environmental, and supply chain aspects of their business operations. In short, it will help you to develop and implement a plan to deal with changes in the marketplace and economy while continually improving operations, increasing profits, and prospering into the future.
The Five Elements of The Business Sustainability Challenge
Funded through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund* and administered by your local utility, the Business Sustainability Challenge consists of five basic elements focusing on Bottom Line, Management, Sales, Innovation, and Industry Leadership – each one building on the foundation and gains achieved through the prior steps. The program provides for multiple 30 to 40 hour BSC events, tailored to your specific needs and designed to give you the training, resources, and support to implement strategies to make your business more resilient and profitable.
The initial BSC event will focus on identifying and capturing near-term opportunities while establishing the foundation and overall strategy for your sustainability initiative. A team of 3 to 5 of your people will be established and charged with developing and implementing activities and projects to move your BSC initiative forward.
After training in energy efficiency concepts, waste stream management, and continuous improvement techniques, the team will benchmark your business’ energy utilization, waste generation, carbon footprint, productivity and efficiency, and other measures important to your operations. They will also identify potential near and long-term opportunities to improve your facilities, operations, workforce, supply chain, environmental footprint, and customer relations. This information will be used to establish the measures, goals, objectives, and timelines that will become your company’s sustainability strategy and guide your continuous improvement efforts going forward.
Follow-on BSC events will focus on capturing cost reductions, implementing productivity and efficiency improvements, streamlining operations, enhancing workforce skills, increasing competitiveness, and positioning your business for long-term growth and profitability.
By participating in the Business Sustainability Challenge, your business will benefit from:
- Energy, waste stream, & operational cost reductions
